Falcons Cut Javian Hawkins
3 years agoAtlanta Falcons running back Javian Hawkins was cut from the roster on Tuesday. Hawkins was part of a running back competition for reps behind projected starter Mike Davis alongside Qadree Ollison, Cordarrelle Patterson, and D'Onta Foreman. The former Louisville halfback was an explosive playmaker in college, averaging over 5.8 yards per carry in each of his last two seasons- though he was outplayed by fellow back Caleb Huntley in preseason game action. The Falcons backfield appears to be trending towards a committee, with Mike Davis and Qadree Ollison getting the bulk of the work and Patterson operating as a change-of-pace back. Davis is the favorite to lead the backfield in touches and looks like a solid flex, RB2 target, though Ollison will cost drafters much less and could carve out a fantasy-friendly role.
