4 months agoJacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram finished with seven catches, which led the team in Week 13 against the Houston Texans. While from a PPR standpoint Engram's performance was solid, he only had 41 yards and no touchdowns, so better efficiency and red-zone usage will be necessary for sustained fantasy success going forward. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence struggled early then went down with a concussion late in the first half, leading to Mac Jones taking over for the rest of the game. Jones played well, throwing two touchdowns, but neither of them went to Engram, unfortunately for fantasy managers. Engram has never been much of a downfield threat, and that will certainly continue with Jones under center and rookie receiver Brian Thomas Jr. thriving on deep balls. The Jaguars face the Titans in Week 14, and Engram's fantasy value will mostly depend on whether Lawrence is able to play.--Seth Quinn - RotoBaller

3 weeks agoThe Denver Broncos are signing two-time Pro Bowl tight end Evan Engram (shoulder) to an undisclosed two-year deal on Wednesday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Although Engram ended the 2024 season on Injured Reserve due to a shoulder injury, he gives the Broncos the help at the position that they've been looking for in recent seasons. The 30-year-old former 23rd overall pick by the New York Giants in 2017 out of Mississippi played in just nine games in 2024 and had 47 catches, 365 yards and one touchdown on 64 targets. However, he had a career year in 2023 with a 114-963-4 line on 143 targets in 17 games (15 starts). Depending on how he bounces back from his shoulder injury and how he takes to head coach Sean Payton's offense, Engram could be second-year quarterback Bo Nix's No. 2 target behind receiver Courtland Sutton, giving him plenty of bounce-back potential as a TE1 in fantasy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 weeks agoTwo-time Pro Bowl tight end Evan Engram is visiting with the Los Angeles Chargers on Tuesday, a source told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. After being cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, Engram is making the rounds and also visited with the Denver Broncos as he looks to sign with a new team in free agency. After the New Orleans Saints re-signed Juwan Johnson Tuesday, Engram is the top tight end available on the market this offseason. The 30-year-old former 23rd overall pick in 2017 by the New York Giants out of Mississippi had a career year in Jacksonville in 2023 with a 114-963-4 line but only played in nine games in 2024 due to a season-ending shoulder injury and finished with a disappointing 47 catches (64 targets) for 365 yards and one TD. Denver's top TE is Adam Trautman, while the Chargers' is Will Dissly. With either team, Engram could be primed for a bounce-back season as a TE1 in fantasy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

4 weeks agoFree-agent tight end Evan Engram is visiting with the Denver Broncos on Monday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The 30-year-old was recently released by the Jacksonville Jaguars after two seasons with the organization and is free to sign with a new team before the new league year begins on March 12. Engram had the best season of his career in 2023, catching 114 passes for 963 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games. The former first-round pick by the New York Giants in 2017 was limited to just nine games in 2024 and caught 47 passes for 365 yards and one score. Head coach Sean Payton has lacked a game-changing tight end since he arrived in Denver, so this could be a perfect match as the team looks to upgrade its pass-catching weapons for rising quarterback Bo Nix.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBaller

4 weeks agoThe Jacksonville Jaguars released tight end Evan Engram (shoulder) on Thursday, per multiple reports. Engram was scheduled to make $14.75 million in 2025, with none of it being guaranteed, but the new coaching staff and front office apparently have decided to move on. The move to cut Engram comes just after the organization traded wide receiver Christian Kirk (collarbone) to the division-rival Houston Texans in exchange for a seventh-round selection in 2026. Engram had a career year in his second year in Jacksonville in 2023 with a 114-963-4 line in 17 games (15 starts) but only ended up playing in nine games in 2024 due to a torn labrum in his left shoulder that required season-ending surgery in mid-December. Jacksonville will free up $5.98 million in salary cap space with Engram's release. Brenton Strange is now their top TE, but the Jags could address the position in free agency or the 2025 NFL draft.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
