Esteury Ruiz Singles, Steals A Base In First Rehab Game
4 months agoOakland Athletics outfielder Esteury Ruiz (wrist) singled, stole a base and drove in a run in two at-bats in his first minor-league rehab game with Single-A Stockton on Tuesday night. He also walked once and struck out while playing seven innings in left field. It was Ruiz's first game action since injuring his wrist with the A's on May 22. Because of the long layoff, the 25-year-old could need a rather lengthy minor-league rehab assignment before he's an option to rejoin the big-league roster. Fantasy managers in need of speed won't have him as an option until after the All-Star break anyway, and there's no guarantee he'll see regular playing time in Oakland when he gets past his wrist injury. Ruiz was sent to the minors earlier this year and has hit just .200 (11-for-55) with five stolen bases in 29 games after leading the big leagues with 67 stolen bases in 2023.
