Erick Fedde Goes On Injured List
4 years agoThe Washington Nationals placed right-hander Erick Fedde (oblique) on the 10-day injured list on Sunday with an oblique strain. The move is retroactive to Thursday. It's a big loss for the Nationals and fantasy managers, as Fedde was 4-4 with a 3.90 ERA in his 11 starts this season. He had thrown 21 straight scoreless innings before he allowed five runs in four innings to the Philadelphia Phillies in his start on Wednesday. Right-hander Andres Machado was recalled from Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move. Machado had a nice 2.63 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings of relief in the minors, so he's unlikely to take Fedde's rotation spot in D.C. Oblique strains often require more than 10 days to recover from for pitchers, so don't expect Fedde to return when his 10-day stint is up.
