Emmanuel Clase Out 8-12 Weeks
5 years agoCleveland Indians reliever Emmanuel Clase (back) is expected to miss two to three months with a moderate strain of the teres major muscle in his upper back. It's a disappointing development for Clase, who was expected to hold a key role in the Indians bullpen this year and for years to come. The 21-year-old was the main prize the Indians received in the deal that sent Corey Kluber to the Rangers. He made 21 appearances as a rookie for the Rangers last year and posted a 2.31 ERA with 21 strikeouts, two homers allowed, six walks and a 1.11 WHIP in 23 1/3 innings. He possesses a cutter that climbs into triple digits on the radar gun and has immense talent. He likely would slot in as the setup man for closer Brad Hand, but with the injury and no clear path to saves, it's hard to justify drafting him even in AL-only leagues that value holds.
