Emmanuel Clase Implodes Monday Versus Rays
3 years agoCleveland Indians relief pitcher Emmanuel Clase blew a save and took the loss during a 9-8 defeat to the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday. The 23-year-old failed to record an out, as he gave up three hits, one walk and two earned runs for his second blown save of the season. He now sits at 3-4 on the season with a 1.51 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 11 saves and 40 strikeouts over 35 2/3 innings. Along with James Karinchak, the right-hander has been part of an electric late-inning tandem for the Indians. Clase doesn't appear to be in danger of losing the closer role and should still be deployed in most settings.
