Emmanuel Clase Converts Sixth Save
2 years agoCleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase converted his sixth save of the season in Wednesday's 3-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers. Clase was set up with a one-run lead entering the ninth, which was maintained by Trevor Stephan and James Karinchak. The 25-year-old surrendered two hits but completed a scoreless ninth. He now trails MLB save leader Jordan Romano by just one save. Clase currently owns a 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 22.2% K rate, and 11.1 walk rate, across 10 innings. In his last seven appearances, Clase molds a 1.29 ERA with two walks and five strikeouts. He is considered one of the premiere closers in the game and is most valuable in leagues that account for saves.
