2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell (knee) hasn't played since Week 1, but the team has designated him to return from injured reserve, so his return to the field will come soon. However, Christian McCaffrey has been added to the backfield mix, so Mitchell's rest-of-season outlook is likely a mere flex play with a low floor. He'll be involved in the offense, but his receiving upside is low and it's tough to pencil him in for goal line touches. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out, but if McCaffrey stays healthy, Mitchell will be far from a workhorse back and far from an RB1 in fantasy football.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBaller
