Eli Manning Not Risking Deep Plays
6 years agoNew York Giants quarterback Eli Manning hasn't been willing to take deep shots down the field much through the first four weeks of the NFL season. “Risks are not what you want to take," Manning said. “You throw the ball down the field when it’s not risky, and then there’s forcing things and that leads to turnovers that leads to mistakes.’’ He averaged 18 interceptions in his first nine full seasons as the starter but is down to 14 per season the last four years. Manning has just four touchdowns and an interception through four games, and their offense has failed to get above 18 points in their three losses. Manning isn't a gunslinger these days and rarely goes off script, but his dinking and dunking ways in 2018 haven't been good for the offense or for fantasy owners of the Giants skill players. Manning has become a low-end QB2.
