Edwin Encarnacion Going For Tests On Biceps
6 years agoCleveland Indians designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion (biceps) will have tests on his left biceps on Saturday after leaving the game early Friday after one plate appearance, according to manager Terry Francona. "He's been overcompensating because of the bruise on his right hand," said Francona. "We just didn't want him take one swing and you can't undo something. We'll get him checked out tomorrow. We'll know more tomorrow." Encarnacion will have an MRI exam Saturday. He was hit by a pitch on the right hand in the last game before the All-Star break on July 15 and has dropped his right hand off the bat at the end of his swing, and it has put more stress on his left arm. He's batting .250 (16-for-64) with three long balls and 16 RBI since the All-Star break. Encarnacion says the bone bruise in his hand is improving. Overall, he's hitting .229 but has 25 homers and 81 RBI, making him a must-start in all formats. This injury could very well put him on the disabled list, though, so check back Saturday. Rajai Davis and Brandon Guyer could see more playing time in the outfield or at designated hitter if Encarnacion lands on the DL.
