Edwin Diaz Returns From Suspension
4 months agoNew York Mets closer Edwin Diaz is returning on Saturday from his 10-game suspension for use of an illegal substance. While Diaz was serving his suspension, the Mets' bullpen had a rough 8.37 ERA, which was the worst in the majors during that span. Diaz's return couldn't come at a better time for the Mets, although the 30-year-old Puerto Rican reliever hasn't been perfect himself in 2024 and has missed time with a shoulder injury. He's currently 2-1 with a 4.70 ERA (4.16 FIP), a 1.17 WHIP, seven saves, 33 strikeouts and seven walks in 23 innings out of the bullpen. Still, he's going to return immediately to primary closing duties in the Big Apple and needs to be returned to all starting fantasy lineups. Since returning from the injured list on June 13, Diaz has tossed three scoreless innings with two saves and three strikeouts in four appearances.
