Edwin Diaz Records 22nd Save
5 years agoAfter the New York Mets took a lead behind Jason Vargas and Robinson Cano Tuesday night at Citi Field, closer Edwin Diaz entered for the save. The much-maligned Puerto Rican came in after Justin Wilson walked the first two batters to begin the frame. Diaz would give up a double, with the ensuing run scored being charged to Wilson, but he recorded the three outs to pick up his 22nd save of the year. Despite all his struggles, which have been highly-publicized in New York, the 25-year-old is tied for the fifth-most saves in the league.
