Edwin Diaz Earns Win In Relief Saturday
3 years agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Edwin Diaz came on to pitch the 10th inning against the Cincinnati Reds Saturday, and quickly found himself in a tough spot after walking the leadoff batter. He recovered to strike out the next two men up and escaped the inning by inducing a line-out to center field from Tyler Naquin. When the Mets walked it off in the next half-inning, Diaz's record improved to 4-4 on the year. Diaz has now strung together five consecutive scoreless outings, with nine strikeouts in those five innings. He's a dominant, top-five fantasy closer despite his deserved reputation for ninth-inning adventures.
