Edwin Diaz Could Be Facing Extended Absence
5 years agoNew York Mets closer Edwin Diaz (shoulder) left his outing against the Braves on Saturday with trapezius tightness. Manager Mickey Callaway said "it's really hard to say" if the injury is something that could force the hard-throwing right-hander to the injured list. On the other hand, Diaz is upbeat and doesn't consider the injury very serious. Diaz also allowed a home run, walk and two earned runs in one-third of an inning before being pulled, so this definitely doesn't help his cause in his quest to win the closing job back all to himself. If he lands on the injured list, Seth Lugo should see most of the save chances. If he's not already owned in your league and you're in need of saves, grab Lugo immediately.
