Edward Cabrera Recalled And Starting Wednesday
1 year agoThe Miami Marlins recalled right-hander Edward Cabrera from Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, and he will make the start against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. Cabrera will take the starting-rotation spot of Sandy Alcantara (forearm), who was placed on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday. The Marlins sent Cabrera down to the farm on Aug. 1 to better control his workload, and the 25-year-old looked solid in the minors with a 2.22 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 28 1/3 innings over five starts. While he had 93 strikeouts in 77 innings over 17 starts for the Fish this year before being demoted, he also had a 4.79 ERA (4.67 FIP), 1.47 WHIP and 52 walks. If Cabrera can display better control of his pitches, he could end the year on a high note in Miami as the club tries to secure a postseason spot.
