Edward Cabrera (finger) looked good in his second minor-league rehab start on Sunday with Triple-A Jacksonville, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits while walking none and striking out six in four innings of work. The 26-year-old threw 56 total pitches in the outing. Cabrera hasn't walked a single batter in his six innings so far over two rehab starts, which is an excellent sign for a pitcher recovering from blister issues who has struggled with his command in the past. It doesn't mean that Cabrera will suddenly become a control artist when he returns to Miami's starting rotation, but he's worth a look on the waiver wire in deeper fantasy leagues if you need some upside and rotation depth. It's likely that Cabrera will need at least one more rehab start, so he probably won't be ready to come off the 15-day injured list when he's eligible this week.

Edward Cabrera (finger) is scheduled to make his second minor-league rehab start on Sunday for Triple-A Jacksonville. In his first rehab start with Jacksonville on Tuesday, Cabrera looked good with one earned run allowed on three hits while walking none and striking out four in three innings of work. The only run the 26-year-old allowed came on a solo bomb in the second inning. He threw 27 of his 46 pitches for strikes. Cabrera will likely need at least one more rehab start following his outing on Sunday before the Fish consider activating him from the 15-day injured list for his 2025 debut. The Dominican hurler has swing-and-miss stuff with a 26 percent strikeout rate in his four seasons in the big leagues, but he's also had an elevated 13.3 percent walk rate and has continually been set back by injuries. Cabrera is worth rostering for his strikeout upside in NL-only leagues, but his inconsistency has made him hard to trust in mixed leagues.

Edward Cabrera (finger) made a minor-league rehab start on Tuesday for Triple-A Jacksonville and allowed one earned run on three hits (one homer) while walking none and striking out four in three innings of work. The only run Cabrera allowed was on a solo homer in the second inning, and it was good to see the 26-year-old finish without allowing a free pass and throwing 27 of his 46 pitches for strikes. He was forced to start the regular season on the 15-day injured list to another blister issue on his finger during spring training, and he's likely to need another rehab start or two before the Marlins have him rejoin their major-league starting rotation. Cabrera will have a spot in the rotation if healthy, but he's had a hard time staying on the field early in his MLB career while also displaying command/control problems.

Edward Cabrera (finger) will start a minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday at Triple-A Jacksonville. Cabrera is on the injured list to begin the 2025 regular season due to yet another blister issue on his right middle finger that surfaced on March 13 during his spring training start. However, the 26-year-old is already ready to start his rehab assignment and may only need a couple of outings in the minors before he's activated and rejoins Miami's starting rotation. Cabrera is officially eligible to come off the IL on April 7. Fantasy managers in most mixed leagues can probably take a wait-and-see approach on the Dominican hurler when he's ready to return. He's been incredibly inconsistent and injury-prone in his four years in the majors and went 4-8 in 2024 with a 4.95 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 107:50 K:BB in 96 1/3 frames over 20 starts.
