7 months agoWashington Nationals outfielder Dylan Crews made his long-awaited MLB debut on Monday but didn't record his first hit until Tuesday, when his team beat the New York Yankees 4-2. He went 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Crews is currently ranked as the third-best prospect in baseball (MLB Pipeline), and his call-up has been expected for a few weeks now. The 22-year-old has tremendous potential and power that can immediately impact ball games. Crews has a ton of fantasy upside and should be added in all formats, as he is rostered only in 35% of Yahoo fantasy leagues.--Jake Kleiner - RotoBaller

5 days agoWashington Nationals outfielder Dylan Crews is starting in right field and batting eighth in the lineup on Opening Day on Thursday at Nationals Park against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies and right-hander Zack Wheeler. This isn't exactly what Crew's fantasy managers wanted to see on Day 1 of the regular season, especially considering the 23-year-old spent most of his time serving as the team's leadoff hitter during his MLB debut in 2024. For now, shortstop CJ Abrams will open up as the club's leadoff man against a right-handed pitcher, but we should expect to see Crews at the top of the order against lefties at least. Crews, the second overall pick last year out of LSU, hit just .218 (26-for-119) with three homers, eight RBI and 12 stolen bases in his first 31 MLB games in 2024. Heading into his first full season, Crews should primarily be a speed asset in fantasy while contributing steadily everywhere else as an everyday player.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

1 month agoWashington Nationals outfield prospect Dylan Crews has showcased his elite skill set early in spring training. Across his first two games, the LSU product has gone 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI, and a stolen base. The former second overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft made his MLB debut last season. Across his first 31 MLB games, Crews held a .218/.288/.353 line with five doubles, three home runs, and 12 stolen bases, He showed a strong eye at the plate with a 19.7 percent strikeout rate, which placed him in the 93rd percentile in sprint speed. Through 49 games with Triple-A Rochester, the 22-year-old posted a .265/.340/.455 slash line with 10 doubles, eight home runs, and 10 stolen bases. Crews is projected to be Washington's everyday right fielder and potentially bat in the top half of the lineup. If he continues to show five-category upside during camp, he could be an intriguing breakout pick in drafts.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

1 month agoMLB.com's Jessica Camerato projects Washington Nationals outfield prospect Dylan Crews to hit second in the batting order in 2025, behind leadoff man and shortstop CJ Abrams. Crews, the second overall pick in 2023 out of LSU, has nothing left to prove in the minors. The 22-year-old made his major-league debut late in 2024 and went 26-for-119 (.218) with three home runs, eight RBI and 12 stolen bases in 31 games (132 plate appearances). Washington led all of baseball with 223 steals a year ago, so Crews should have plenty of chances to run in his first full big-league season, which gives him a nice fantasy floor heading into his first full year in D.C. Crews may not have the power that you desire from a top-40 outfielder, but he'll be an everyday player and is a good bet to steal 30 bases in 2025. RotoBaller has him ranked as the No. 37 fantasy outfielder.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

7 months agoWashington Nationals outfielder Dylan Crews went 2-for-3 including a home run and a double, along with a walk, two RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Pirates in Game 1 of their doubleheader. The 22-year-old has held his own since being called up, with six of his 10 hits going for extra bases and he's stolen five bases in just 11 games. Perhaps even more impressive is that he's struck out just once over the last six games (28 plate appearances). Hopefully he can stay productive throughout the fantasy playoffs as well and he's surely going to be a multi-category producer in 2025.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller
