Dwayne Allen Could Be On Roster Bubble
6 years agoNew England Patriots tight end Dwayne Allen, who is the backup to Rob Gronkowski, could be on the roster bubble because he's due $4.5 million in base salary with a $5 million salary cap charge in 2018. That could be too high for the Patriots for a tight end who primarily blocks. The Patriots could ask him to take a pay cut or release him if he doesn't agree. However, the rest of the tight ends on the team's roster don't have great blocking skills, so that could keep Allen around. New England could use more two-tight end sets to begin the year if Julian Edelman's four-game suspension holds up, but even then Allen won't be much of a fantasy option.
