Dustin Johnson Hanging On To World No. 1 Ranking
7 years agoDustin Johnson did just enough at the RBC Heritage to keep his world No. 1 ranking. With Justin Thomas taking the week off, Johnson needed to finish better than 32nd to keep his No. 1 spot. Entering Sunday's final round, he was outside the top 40, but a four-under par 67 got him into a tie for 16th, allowing him to keep his top ranking for now. "I played the golf course tee to green pretty well. I struggled on the greens a bit," Johnson told reporters. "Other than that, if I putt well, I should be right up there with a chance to win, for sure, because I played well enough." Johnson will likely not play again until the Wells Fargo Championship in early May. He finished runner-up there in 2017 and will be one of the favorites to win this year.
