Dustin Fowler Promoted, Frankie Montas Optioned
6 years agoThe Oakland Athletics promoted outfielder Dustin Fowler from the minors on Friday and optioned starting pitcher Frankie Montas in a corresponding move. Montas didn't fare so well in his first start in the rotation since replacing the injured Sean Manaea, although he could make some starts down the stretch for the A's. Montas' fantasy value is limited because of his lack of swing-and-miss stuff. Fowler is leading off and playing left field against Mariners starter Mike Leake on Friday, giving him some nice sleeper appeal in DFS games. Fowler has hit just .231 with six homers, 21 RBI and six steals in 59 games for the A's this year. He could be relevant in AL-only leagues to close out the year, but don't expect him to see everyday playing time.
