Dustin Fowler Optioned, Ramon Laureano To Be Called Up
6 years agoThe Oakland Athletics optioned outfielder Dustin Fowler to the minors on Wednesday to get regular at-bats. In a corresponding move, the A's are expected to call up outfield prospect Ramon Laureano. He was acquired from the Astros last year and has hit .512 with four home runs in the last 10 days on the farm. He is a plus defender at all three outfield spots, which will give Oakland options. Fowler could be the team's everyday center fielder in the future, but he had three hits in his last 32 at-bats. Laureano, the team's No. 21 prospect, is hitting .296/.381/.514 with 13 home runs, 34 RBI and 11 steals overall in 63 games for Triple-A Nashville this year. Keep an eye on him in keeper, AL-only and deep mixed leagues.
