Drew Pomeranz Gets Nod Over Steven Wright
6 years agoBoston Red Sox pitcher Drew Pomeranz has been added to the World Series roster over Steven Wright (knee). Reliever Brandon Workman has been removed from the roster as a result. Wright needs offseason knee surgery, but he proved that he could pitch in a simulated game over the weekend. Ultimately, it looks like the Red Sox preferred to have a lefty in their bullpen to face the Dodgers. Pomeranz was pretty awful this year, going 2-6 with a 6.08 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 8.0 K/9 in 26 outings (11 starts). He hasn't pitched at all yet in the postseason this year. The left-hander was a little more effective out of the bullpen, so Boston will hope he's up to the task.
