4 months agoNew York Giants quarterback Drew Lock (elbow, heel) is expected to practice on Wednesday and will make the start in Week 16 against the Atlanta Falcons, according to head coach Brian Daboll. Lock injured his left elbow and heel in the Week 14 loss to the New Orleans Saints and was inactive for the Week 15 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The 28-year-old was in a walking boot last week but appears to have made enough progress to return to the starting role this weekend. In his two starts in Weeks 13 and 14, Lock was underwhelming, going 42-for-81 for 405 yards, no touchdowns, two interceptions and a lost fumble, but he did add 116 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries. While Lock probably gives the Giants offense a little more upside than Tommy DeVito, he's nothing more than a desperation QB2 play for fantasy managers in superflex leagues without any other options. UPDATE: Lock was limited in Wednesday's practice.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 months agoNew York Giants quarterback Drew Lock will not be a recommended option in Week 18's divisional showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles. The sixth-year pro is coming off his best game, totaling a shocking five touchdowns (one rushing) and 309 passing yards in last weekend's 45-33 win over the Indianapolis Colts. It was the second time in his career that he'd tossed four scores in a single outing, and he was 30 yards shy of matching his previous career high. Despite the stellar performance, Lock can't be trusted for fantasy purposes in this Sunday's road tilt. Before Week 17's explosion, the 28-year-old bolstered a 1:4 TD:INT ratio in his previous appearances. Even with Philly slated to rest most of their starters, the veteran lands at QB26 in RotoBaller's Week 18 rankings.--Alex Ciulla

3 months agoNew York Giants quarterback Drew Lock went 17-for-23 with 309 yards and four scores in their victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Lock also added a rushing score. Lock tallied his first score of the afternoon on a 31-yard pass to rookie standout Malik Nabers. In the second, Lock found Darius Slayton on a 32-yard TD strike and later Wan'Dale Robinson on a five-yard TD pass. In the fourth quarter, he found Nabers once again, this time on a 59-yard catch-and-run TD pass and capped off his day with a rushing score at the five-yard line. This was not only Lock's best showing of the season but of his career. Coming into this game, Lock averaged a mere 205.0 passing yards per game with just one passing score over his past three contests. Despite his strong showing, Lock has a tough task ahead of him in Week 18 facing a Philadelphia defense that has allowed the fifth-fewest PPR points to opposing QBs.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

3 months agoNew York Giants quarterback Drew Lock (shoulder) upgraded to a full practice session on Friday and was removed from the final injury report for Week 17 against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Even though the Colts have been a strong matchup for opposing QBs this year -- they've allowed the 11th-most fantasy points to the position through 15 games played -- we seriously hope that no fantasy managers in superflex leagues are having to resort to using Lock as their QB2 with a championship on the line. The 28-year-old threw two more interceptions (both were returned for touchdowns) in last week's blowout loss to the Atlanta Falcons and he just has not been good in a starting role for the G-Men let go of Daniel Jones. Lock has completed a career-low 52.7% of his pass attempts with one TD and four picks in his six games (three starts). He can run a little bit, but Lock should be avoided if at all possible.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 months agoNew York Giants quarterback Drew Lock (shoulder) will start again in Week 17 against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, according to head coach Brian Daboll. Lock made the start in the blowout loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 16, but his availability was in question for this week after he underwent an MRI exam on his right shoulder on Monday. Apparently everything checked out fine with Lock's throwing shoulder, so he'll make his fourth start of the year this weekend. The 28-year-old has not looked good at all in his three starts for the G-Men, completing 53.33% of his 120 pass attempts for 615 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions while also losing two fumbles. He has run for 117 yards and a touchdown on the ground, but nobody that advanced to a fantasy championship should be using Lock as a QB2 in superflex leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
