5 years agoNew York Mets first baseman/outfielder Dominic Smith (foot) will be in a walking boot for three weeks and will then be re-evaluated. Smith went on the injured list last Saturday with a stress reaction in his left foot, and he may not return until the season's final month. The 24-year-old lost out on playing because of Pete Alonso's excellent rookie season, and he has had just 176 at-bats in 2019. Smith was hitting .278/.352/.506 with 10 home runs and 22 RBI and had been a useful bat off the bench.
