Dominic Smith Making Case For Opening Day Roster
6 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Dominic Smith is showing why he was once considered a top prospect for the Mets in the minor leagues this spring. Both he and current Mets top prospect Peter Alonso could both wind up making the Opening Day roster. Smith is hitting .349 (15-for-43) with a homer and nine RBI in 48 spring plate appearances, but Alonso is also tearing the cover off the baseball and has more raw power. Smith is still just 23 years old so he's worth holding in dynasty/keeper formats, but his uncertain future with the big league club makes him one to avoid in mixed leagues.
