Dolphins Expected To Release Ryan Tannehill
6 years agoThe Miami Dolphins are expected to release quarterback Ryan Tannehill this offseason, but they aren't expected to bring in either Nick Foles or Teddy Bridgewater as their next quarterback. Miami would love to trade Tannehill, but the chances of that happening are not great given his contract. He would cost $18.7 million in base salary in 2019 and $19.5 million in 2020, and the acquiring team would also have to give up a draft pick. A team source said the Dolphins like the idea of taking Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa if he's available in the 2020 draft. Tannehill missed all of the 2017 season with a knee injury and has been terribly mediocre in his seven years in the NFL. He hasn't played in a full season since 2015 and won't necessarily get a shot at a starting gig on the open market if he finds himself there.
