Dodgers Avoid Arbitration With Chris Taylor, Others
6 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers avoided salary arbitration on Friday with infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor, outfielders Kike Hernandez and Joc Pederson and relief pitchers Pedro Baez, Josh Fields and Yimi Garcia by signing them to undisclosed one-year deals. Taylor is the most attractive fantasy piece of the bunch because of his ability to player almost anywhere on the diamond and his modest power-speed game. The 28-year-old hit .254/.331/.444 with 17 home runs, 63 RBI, 85 runs scored and nine steals in 2018, but he also led the National League with 178 punchouts. It was a disappointment after he slugged 21 round-trippers in 2017. Taylor is a Swiss Army knife for depth in deep mixed and NL-only leagues. Both Hernandez and Pederson have limited ceilings as platoon players for the Dodgers.
