Dodgers Acquire Reliever Corey Knebel
4 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers acquired relief pitcher Corey Knebel from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for a player to be named later on Wednesday, moments before the non-tender deadline. The 29-year-old former All-Star struggled in his return from Tommy John surgery (6.08 ER, 15 strikeouts, eight walks), but he had a 1.78 ERA and 126 strikeouts in 76 innings in 2017 before he tore the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. While Knebel's fastball was down in the mid-90s in 2020, it was a small sample size. The Dodgers are hoping he can bounce back to his pre-injury form over a full season in 2021. Once a top-notch fantasy closer with triple-digit heat, Knebel will just be hoping to rebound for the World Series champions in a middle-relief role next season.
