Do Not Be Deceived by Cameron Tringale's Numbers
4 years agoCameron Tringale is a fine player that checks a lot of boxes statistically. He dominates in easy scoring conditions, putts well on Bent-grass greens, and he finished third at TPC Twin Cities last year. The issue with Tringale is two-fold. Firstly, his price never reflects his upside. The Georgia Tech product has never won on the PGA Tour in a decade long plus career. His 26th-place finish last week at the Open was his first major Top-30 of his entire career as well. Tringale rarely plays in majors because he is not a good enough player to qualify for them, let alone compete in them. Many of Tringale's stats are skewed by the fact that he beats up on lesser competition. He is now being priced as if he is the class of this field, which he is completely undeserving of.

Cameron Tringale May Have Tough Time At Austin
3 years agoCameron Tringale picked the wrong time to go into a downturn. The American golfer has missed three cuts in the last five tournaments. Even at the Valspar, Tringale's game started to go south again over the final two rounds. He has shot in the 70's in seven of his last eight rounds. Off the tee has been Tringale's biggest weakness where he ranks just 154th at -0.233 strokes gained. Though he has been slightly above average almost everywhere else, that may not help in match play. If Tringale falls behind early, he may not recover in this group. Victor Holland and Will Zalatoris will not be slouches.

Cameron Tringale Looking For Hope At Valspar
3 years agoAt this point, Cameron Tringale is hoping for anything to hold on to. Tringale has been missing shots, putts, and more. Since the tied for third at the Farmers Insurance Open, Tringale has missed cuts in three of the last four tournaments. Valspar may be a little easier to make shots and birdies but consider that Tringale has shot +20 combined in the last four rounds. That included a season-worst 79 at The Players Championship. Ranking 174th off the tee at -0.31 strokes gained sets Tringale back a good bit. With several long par-5's this week, the American golfer could have trouble again.

Cameron Tringale Looking For Big Week At Sawgrass
3 years agoCameron Tringale is another one of those golfers that just cannot put two consecutive weeks together. He looks like a top-10 or top-20 player one week then cannot make a cut the next. This pattern has repeated for eight tournaments and goes back to October of last year. The good is when he makes the cut. Tringale has three top-tens including a runner-up and a third at the Farmers Insurance Open. The bad and worst was missing the cut at The Arnold Palmer after consecutive 78's. It seems like an "up" week is likely for Tringale but he will have to hit better off the tee and drop some putts. That is achievable for the American golfer.

Cameron Tringale's Up-And-Down Season May Continue
3 years agoCameron Tringale has been up and down and all over the place this season on the PGA Tour. It seems like he alternates very good finishes with missing cuts. This seems to border on the almost crazy. That up and down nature has affected his numbers somewhat but when he is on, he is top-20 in several metrics including strokes gained total. As it is, he still ranks 24th overall in 2022 at 1.062 strokes gained. His work around and approaching greens is among the top-50 as well. Again, it comes down to one bad round. If Tringale can avoid that, then he can contend once more at the Arnold Palmer.
