DJ LeMahieu Ends Extra-Base Hit Drought
3 years agoNew York Yankees second baseman DJ LeMahieu went 2-for-6 with a double and an RBI in Wednesday's win over the Minnesota Twins. LeMahieu hadn't recorded an extra-base hit in his last 16 games before he stepped up to the plate in the first inning and ripped an 0-2 slider into right field for a two-bagger. He later singled and also collected an RBI on a fielder's choice. LeMahieu's .256 batting average and .661 OPS are well below the standards of excellence he set for himself so far in New York, largely because of his lack of success with runners in scoring position, an area he has excelled in with the Yankees. LeMahieu should be expected to turn things around, though he may not return value on his lofty ADP for fantasy managers.
