DJ LeMahieu Clears Concussion Protocols
3 months agoNew York Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu's (head) condition has improved and he has passed the league's concussion protocols, according to manager Aaron Boone, but he's not in the starting lineup on Saturday at Yankee Stadium against the Colorado Rockies. Jazz Chisholm Jr., who returned from the injured list on Friday, will start at the hot corner and will bat fifth against Rockies right-hander Bradley Blalock. LeMahieu was scratched from Friday's lineup after being hit in the face by a ball during pre-game warmups. The 36-year-old appears to have avoided a concussion, though, and should be considered day-to-day. There's a chance he'll return to action for Sunday's series finale against Colorado in the Bronx. It's been a pretty dismal year for LeMahieu, as he's hitting just .189 (35-for-185) with two homers and 24 RBI, and the return of Chisholm doesn't bode well for his playing time going forward.
