Dinelson Lamet's Value Capped By Managed Workload
5 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Dinelson Lamet allowed two earned runs but lasted just four innings Wednesday against the New York Mets. Lamet was pulled after 80 pitches, missing out on his first victory despite striking out six. He relinquished four hits and a walk. Through four starts since returning from Tommy John surgery, Lamet has yet to breach five innings or 85 pitches in any outing, sitting with a 5.00 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 12.5 K/9. While the strikeout upside is tantalizing, Lamet’s fantasy value is capped by his managed workload. With the Padres likely to continue being cautious with the 27-year-old fireballer, he’s only a deep bench stash at best.
