San Diego Padres starting pitcher Dinelson Lamet (forearm) played catch with a weighted ball on Wednesday and baseball on Thursday. He also reported that he is feeling better, which is good news after he landed on the 10-day injured list nearly a week ago because of right forearm inflammation. The 28-year-old has played well enough to remain on fantasy rosters, posting a 2-3 record along with a 3.67 ERA and 38 strikeouts through nine starts this season. James Norwood will continue to hold things down in Lamet's place until he returns.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBaller

With Los Angeles Dodgers closer Evan Phillips unavailable to pitch after appearing in three of the last four games for L.A., Dinelson Lamet picked up the save in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Giants. It was Lamet's first career save, and he needed just eleven pitches to get through the inning, throwing seven of them for strikes. The 31-year-old struck out two in the outing and now has a 3:1 K:BB through three appearances (3 IP) in 2024 without allowing a single hit or an earned run. The righty likely won't get many more save opportunities with Evan Phillips doing just fine, but in deeper leagues, he could help lower ERA and WHIP while chipping in some strikeouts for managers in need of help in those areas.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

The Los Angeles Dodgers selected right-hander Dinelson Lamet's contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday and designated right-handed reliever Nabil Crismatt for assignment in a corresponding move. Lamet will be making his season debut when he gets into a game, as he hadn't appeared at all for Oklahoma City. The 31-year-old veteran will provide the Dodgers with some relief depth but won't be on the fantasy radar at all. The Dominican hurler made his MLB debut in 2017 with the San Diego Padres and had some early intrigue as a starter, but injuries and poor control eventually moved him to a low-leverage relief role. In his six big-league seasons, Lamet has a 4.66 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with 168 walks and 471 K's in 363 1/3 innings over 118 outings (60 starts).--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Dinelson Lamet, who is a non-roster invitee to spring training, isn't in camp with the rest of the pitchers and catchers yet due to visa issues, according to manager Dave Roberts. Other than Lamet, all of the pitchers and catchers are accounted for. Lamet can ill-afford to miss any time in spring training with his new organization as the seeks to claim a roster spot for Opening Day. The 31-year-old former starter fell apart last year with the Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox, sporting an 11.71 ERA and 2.35 WHIP with 23 walks and 32 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings over 17 appearances (four starts). Injuries and control issues have really derailed what was once a promising career when he was with the San Diego Padres.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Free-agent right-hander Dinelson Lamet signed a minor-league deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training. Lamet has really struggled the last two years and has bounced around the league with three different teams. In 2023, he had a nightmarish 11.71 ERA (6.83 FIP) and 2.35 WHIP with 23 walks and 32 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings over 17 appearances (four starts) with the Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox. However, the 31-year-old was much better in the minors with a 2.70 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. Lamet showed some promise in a starting role for the San Diego Padres early in his career, but injuries and control problems have really hurt his cause in recent years. He'll most likely serve as organizational relief depth for the Dodgers in 2024.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
