Devonta Freeman A Solid RB2 Option In Week 5
5 years agoAtlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman has had an exceptionally underwhelming start to the season. Part of it has been poor play on his end, but part of it has also been bad luck. The Falcons have been playing from behind a lot this year, forcing the team to abandon the running game a great deal. The team only has one rushing touchdown on the year and it went to Freeman's backup, Ito Smith. In Week 4, Freeman carried the ball 12 times and had eight catches, compiling 100 total yards from scrimmage. If a workload like that continues, you're going to be happy starting Freeman more often than not. This week against the Texans, he should get between 15 and 20 touches and have a good chance to reach 100 yards again and maybe punch in his first score of the year.
