Devin Smeltzer Has So-So Outing
4 years agoMinnesota Twins pitcher Devin Smeltzer pitched 4 1/3 innings against the Royals, allowing two runs while walking one and striking out a pair. Smeltzer left in a tie game so he couldn't factor into the decision, though it was a somewhat successful debut for his new slider. The 24-year-old threw the pitch 15 times and got three swings-and-misses on it. Smeltzer seems to have settled down after allowing five runs and two homers in his first appearance against the White Sox. He likely won't have much fantasy value, considering he's a fill-in starter at this point and will be relegated back to the 'pen when Rich Hill (shoulder) and Homer Bailey (biceps) return.
