6 years agoLos Angeles Chargers rookie running back Detrez Newsome got off to a hot start last week by scoring a nice touchdown in his first NFL preseason game. This week versus the Seahawks, expect Newsome to get plenty of looks once again. Newsome is competing to be the third-string running back for the Chargers behind Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler, but both of those guys have had injury troubles in the past, so a third-stringer could see some playing time when the real games start. Newsome is competing with 7th-round pick Justin Jackson, who has been hampered by an injury of his own, so the undrafted free agent will be looking to make the most of every touch.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
