Denny Hamlin May Not Help Teammate On Saturday Night
1 year agoDenny Hamlin may find himself in a bit of a predicament during Saturday night's Coke Zero Sugar 400. There is one spot left in the Playoffs to claim, and currently, that position is held by Bubba Wallace, who has a 32-point cushion over Ty Gibbs. Denny Hamlin is the co-owner of Bubba Wallace's No. 23 Toyota, and he's the teammate of Ty Gibbs at Joe Gibbs Racing. It's possible that we could see all three of these drivers fighting for the win on Saturday night at Daytona, but that begs the question, who would Hamlin help push to the win if he had to choose between Bubba and Ty? During media availability on Friday evening, Hamlin answered, "If I had to choose, if they're side by side coming to the line, at the 0.1 chance that that happens, then obviously I'd probably lean to the 23 side." While this situation certainly isn't likely to happen, there's still a small possibility that it could. Hamlin qualified 19th for Saturday night's race at Daytona, a track where he has won at three times in his career.
