7 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Denard Span drove in three runs versus Minnesota Saturday. He went 2-for-5 with a run scored and three driven in. This improved his OBP to .369 on the season. Span's three RBI in the game rose his season total to 17 which is on the leaderboard for the American League so far this season. He also has nine RBI in the past four games. He is having this success despite spending his time outside of the heart of the order, where the RBI totals are traditionally highest. Span is coming off a 2017 season where he batted .272 with 12 home runs and 12 steals. As long as he gets to 450 plate appearances, he should serve as a steady and safe fourth or fifth outfielder in a 12-team mixed league.--Jamie Mellor
