6 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Dellin Betances will begin the season on the injured list due to a right shoulder impingement. He's been prescribed anti-inflammatories after undergoing an MRI exam. It'll be three to five days before he resumes throwing, although general manager Brian Cashman don't think the reliever will miss much time. Betances has touched 93 mph in spring action, but he averaged 89 mph with his fastball in his appearance on Sunday. He might be having issues with velocity due to his shortened offseason program after he welcomed his son in February. The Yanks should be fine missing Betances for a short amount of time, as they have one of the deepest and toughest bullpens in baseball. Despite his injury and role as a setup man, Betances is still valuable for his ratios and strikeouts in deeper leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
