Dellin Betances Enters Early, Gets Win
6 years agoAfter New York Yankees starter Luis Severino was removed from Wednesday night's American League wild-card game in the fifth inning, manager Aaron Boone went to reliever Dellin Betances. Perhaps entering a game earlier than ever in his professional career, the 30-year-old New York native inherited two base runners, but was brilliant for two innings, retiring all six batters he faced. This is a new chance for Betances to make an impact in the postseason, as he was a non-factor in the club's run last year. He earned the win as the Yankees moved on to the ALDS where they will take on the Boston Red Sox.
