10 months agoDavid Rubenstein of the Carlyle Group and Mike Arougheti of Ares Management Corporation will reportedly purchase the Baltimore Orioles franchise from the Angelos family for $1.725 billion, per the Athletic's Brittany Ghiroli. There is no timetable for when the deal will be made official, although owners' meetings will take place next week in Orlando. Should MLB and the other 29 owners approve the deal, Rubenstein would reportedly assume the job as the team's control person. While the O's have one of baseball's most exciting rosters, they haven't had an Opening Day payroll higher than 27th in baseball since 2018. It remains to be seen how new ownership may change that, but the team could become even more appealing from a fantasy perspective if the team can bring in more high-end free agents and trade candidates.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller
