David Robertson Could Return In Second Half
5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher David Robertson (elbow), who had Tommy John surgery last year, isn't being ruled out from a second-half return in 2020. Robertson was a free-agent flop for the Phillies last season, as he appeared in just seven games (no saves) and allowed four earned runs in 6 2/3 innings pitched. The Phillies signed him with the expectation that he'd be their primary closer after coming over from the Yankees. Heading into the 2020 regular season, Hector Neris should be the favorite for ninth-inning duties, with Seranthony Dominguez as his primary setup man. Even if Robertson returns after the All-Star break, there's no guarantee he'll get many save chances, if any.
