David Montgomery Practices In Full Thursday
1 year agoDetroit Lions running back David Montgomery (foot) looks well on his way to playing this Sunday against the New Orleans Saints after putting in a full practice session on Thursday. Montgomery was limited on Wednesday with a foot issue. Rookie first-rounder Jahmyr Gibbs has earned a bigger share of the backfield workload going forward, but Montgomery still remains a big part of this offense. Since returning from a three-game absence due to a rib injury, Monty has found the end zone in each of the last three games and has a total of 39 rushing attempts for 263 yards (6.74 yards per carry), adding two catches for 22 yards. He's less useful in PPR formats and should be considered a touchdown-dependent RB2. Montgomery has scored on the ground in all but one of his eight games in 2023.
