Darren Fells Granted His Release
3 years agoDetroit Lions veteran tight end Darren Fells asked for and was granted his release on Monday, according to a source. Fells will go on waivers and could provide an interesting option for tight end-needy teams. The 35-year-old was targeted just five times in seven games for the 0-8 Lions, catching four passes for 43 yards. With Fells moving on, the Lions has Rashod Berry and rookie Brock Wright as options to elevate from the practice squad to the active roster to provide depth behind T.J. Hockenson. Detroit was on their bye in Week 9, but Fells was a healthy scratch in the Week 8 blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He can provide some veteran depth with another organization, but he's unlikely to suddenly become fantasy relevant.
