3 years agoIt was the Darren Elkins of old Saturday against Tristian Connelly, with Elkins delivering the pressure and earning a unanimous decision. Throughout 15 minutes of intense competition, Elkins racked up 75 significant strikes (165 total strikes) while landing five of his 10 takedown attempts. The takedown department was a huge deciding factor on the stat sheet, with Connelly not attempting any takedowns on the night. The 37-year-old Elkins has looked great since his four-fight losing streak. Let's continue to check out his matchups to see if we have any opportunities to start Elkins and rack up points.--Matt Bricker

3 years agoA man always willing to put on a show for the fans, Darren Elkins (26-10) will look to avenge his most-recent knockout loss when he enters the Octagon to face Tristan Connelly on Saturday night. Prior to his loss against Cub Swanson in December of last year, Elkins had won back-to-back matchups by knockout/TKO, snapping the four-fight losing streak he was on. Averaging 3.44 significant strikes landed per minute and 2.65 takedown attempts per bout, Elkins is a bit more active than his opponent. Facing a foe who will step into the Octagon as a different breed of fighter, Elkins is the favorite with a salary of $8,800. Throughout his UFC career, Elkins averages 73.9 fantasy points per contest. This might be a time when it's worth it to shell out this much in salary for Elkins.--Matt Bricker

3 years agoTaking his fifth loss in his last seven bouts, Darren Elkins was unable to exit the first round on Saturday for the first time since 2013, suffering a knockout/TKO loss to Cub Swanson to open up the main card of action. In 2:12 of action, Elkins could only tally two significant strikes (five total strikes) and absorbed 18 significant strikes, including a glancing head kick that eventually led to the stoppage of action. With his two previous bouts resulting in victories by finish, fantasy managers will need to gauge Elkins' future matchups before putting him in their lineups on fight night.--Matt Bricker
