Darrell Henderson Jr. Just Misses The RB2 Mark
2 years agoLos Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson Jr. gained 43 yards on 12 carries and scored a touchdown in the Rams' 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers. He also caught two passes for 9 yards. Fellow Rams RB Cam Akers was not active due to a dispute with the team, so Henderson saw more carries than he did in any game since Week 1. Still, he was far from being a bellcow. His dozen rushing attempts were only 41% of the team's 29 total rushes. The Rams ran the ball ten times more than they usually do, with four WRs taking carries and two RBs having been promoted from the practice squad. The Rams' three touchdowns were the most they had scored in the past four games. If Henderson were to handle 40% of the Rams' usual rushing volume, he would only have seven or eight carries most games and be much less likely to score a touchdown. Henderson was a nice flex play for many lucky fantasy managers this week, ranking as the RB13 in PPR and RB16 in standard, at the end of Sunday, but this was against one of the worst teams on the Rams schedule. He probably won't repeat this performance often.
