Darius Slayton's Role Should Expand
5 years agoNew York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton, who was picked 171st overall in the fifth round last year, led the team in receiving yards and touchdowns in 2019. Slayton's role should only expand in his sophomore season, and he could be the team's best perimeter receiver. He will be a starter alongside Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard in three-wide sets in 2020. The 23-year-old caught 48 passes for 740 yards and eight touchdowns in his 14 games (nine starts). There's a lot to like about his future, but a healthy Evan Engram will also command plenty of targets through the air, and running back Saquon Barkley will catch his fair share of passes. Slayton could see an improvement on his catches and yardage with more starts, but matching or exceeding his touchdown production could prove to be a tall task.
