4 years agoMiami Marlins left-handed pitcher Daniel Castano pitched well in a Grapefruit League game against the New York Mets on Sunday. He tossed 4 2/3 innings, allowing one run on five hits without issuing a walk and striking out five. Some reports had him touching 95 mph on the radar gun, which would be impressive for Castano. He's never been a huge strikeout guy, but he's been good at keeping runs off the scoreboard for the most part thanks to excellent and control and a knack for inducing weak contact. The Marlins have a long list of solid mid-to-back-end rotation starters, so Castano will need to start the season either in the bullpen or in a minor league rotation.
