1 year agoTexas Rangers pitcher Dane Dunning will aim to get his team a step closer to playoff baseball when he gets the ball Wednesday on the road against the Los Angeles Angels. Dunning enters Wednesday's contest sporting a healthy 3.88 ERA across 24 starts and 33 appearances but it hasn't exactly been a smooth ride. His 4.44 FIP and 4.59 SIERA suggest some regression could be on the horizon while Dunning has allowed 16 runs over his last four starts spanning 21 2/3 innings of work. At the same time, he has kept his team in ball games by allowing three earned runs or fewer in eight of his last 11 starts. Consistency has been an issue but a dynamite Rangers offense has helped steer Dunning to 11 wins on the season, matching his total from his first three seasons in the big leagues.--Brenton Kemp
