Dane Dunning Getting The Ball Wednesday
2 years agoTexas Rangers right-hander Dane Dunning is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against Luis Castillo and the Seattle Mariners. The 28-year-old will be making his second start of the season after replacing the injured Jacob deGrom (elbow) in the rotation. Dunning owns a 1.42 ERA but has struck out just 14 batters with six walks over 25.1 innings. Since coming over to Texas in the Lance Lynn deal, the former top prospect hasn't taken off like fantasy managers were hoping, recording a 4.22 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 20.7% strikeout rate across three seasons with the Rangers. Dunning is only a viable option in very deep and AL-only leagues considering his lackluster stuff.
